POLICE officers have issued a warning about a bogus caller claiming to be selling mattresses.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: “The man has been known to approach elderly residents asking if they want to buy a new mattress for £300. Some conmen will try to gain access to property and bedroom under the guise of checking the status of current mattress and removing covers.

We have had reports that it’s starting to happen again in North London and around Potters Bar area. We thought we had seen the back of this con –  it was rife a few years ago and then after a few arrests were made ,it seemed to go away. Be careful the scam is back!

“Please share this information with relatives, friends and neighbours.
